Dumisani today

The Dumisani Matere you see today is a happy and confident young man who participates in life just as his "normal" peers do.  At Kasupe Secondary School, Dumisani was popular among his schoolmates and an excellent student. Dumisani completed Form IV (12th grade) and passed his MSCE in 2015; however, his exam scores did not qualify him for admission into Malawi's elite university program.  Although Dumisani could have attended a technical college, he was determined to go to university.  He would have to re-take the MSCE exam which required Dumisani to repeat Form III and Form IV, an additional 2-year investment in secondary school.  In order to give him the best chance of being successful, it was decided (at the recommendation of Dumisani's physician) that Dumisani would attend Nsanje Private Secondary School, a boarding school located at the southern most tip of Malawi. The school has a large population of HIV+ students and, most importantly for Dumisani, has a highly-rated HIV clinic close by.

Dumisani will again sit for his MSCE exam in July 2017.  The prayers of the entire Kasupe family are with him as he takes this next step in his dream to attend university.
